Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP)

Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry is used to determine relatively larger pores (few microns) as compared to adsorption method (NOVA). It uses high pressure and low pressure modes and penetrates mercury into the sample to measure the pore volume and size. It is an intrusive method as well as destructive method as it will spoil the sample due to insertion of mercury.

MIP along with NOVA paint the complete picture of micro, meso and macropores in the specimen.
